Director of Facilities Development

General Job Description

Oversight of a variety of multiple use building projects, in a variety of sizes and styles that can be complex and require an engineer with extensive experience.  Position requires previous work experience in multiple engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, chemical and biomedical engineering.  


Education
The Director of Facilities Development position requires a bachelor's degree in related engineering discipline, with emphasis on infrastructure development. An associate degree in an engineering discipline with extensive related experience will be considered. At least 5 years of successful experience in the design and development of building projects required.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • The Director of Facilities Development must agree with Never-Ending Grace Corporation’s Mission, Purpose, and Statement of Faith, and adhere to the goals and philosophies of the corporation.  

  • The Director of Facilities Development will lead and supervise the development and execution of multiple building projects occurring simultaneously. This will include supervising design, inspection, implementation, and testing. Statistical reports and data on the engineering project will need to be generated to carefully document the process, provide necessary invoicing, and purchase needed materials and equipment. This will involve defining and developing policies and procedures for building projects being developed as well.

  • The Director of Facilities Development must be familiar with and able to adapt to the myriad of government regulations and requirements for building projects as well as all local and state codes.  

  • The Director’s position does not include responsibility for day-to-day maintenance of the facilities, which is the responsibility of another staff position. It does include providing input and supervising any upgrades or additions to any Corporation facilities whose cost exceed $25,000.  

  • The Director of Facilities Development will be responsible for preparing a yearly budget, providing specific project estimates based on consultation with appropriate support companies, and recommending staff and equipment needs for all Never-Ending Grace Corporation facility development to the Board of Directors.

  • Staff assigned to the development of the facilities projects will be supervised by the Director. The Director will also participate in staff evaluations, and recommend promotions and terminations as needed.

  • The position will involve travel to project sites to provide field research and ensure projects are completed in a timely manner and within budget guidelines. The Director of Facilities Development will be part of the bidding and selection process for all contractors needed for project development. The position also will require travel to investigate and learn about other projects.

  • Some projects may be government-funded or may be funded by various foundations throughout the country. As a result, the Director of Facilities Development must be able to work under increased scrutiny of reviewers and auditors overseeing project spending.

The Director of Facilities Development position requires a highly organized individual who has the proven ability to multi-task diverse projects at the same time. Stress management is essential, the ability to thrive under pressure is needed.  The position requires the ability to quickly understand the needs of those who will be using the facilities and meet and exceed those needs. A great deal of confidentiality must be exercised throughout each project. Precise communication skills are necessary. The Director of Facilities Development must have the ability to easily explain his thinking and decision-making under criticism of regulatory personnel. The position also requires the ability to explain details of projects and the project needs in lay-terms to the members of the Board of Directors of Never-Ending Grace Corporation, related staff who will be working at the facilities, and to a wide variety of guests of the Corporation.

Overview

The Director of Facilities Development is a very challenging position for the person who loves to create and see to completion working facilities that meet and exceed the needs of those involved. Unlike many Engineer positions, this one offers the unique guarantee of continuous work, duplicating in unique settings what was originally created and built.

Compensation
The Director of Facilities Development salary based on industry standards as well as previous experience will have a starting range between $125,000 and $135,000 per year. The Director of Facilities Development will also receive the Never-Ending Grace Corporation benefits package (see attached).
